Strike a Pose
October is an important month for true followers of fashion — those who begin to think about their spring wardrobe before the snow falls — as October is traditionally the month for catwalk presentations of spring-summer collections.

Art-Strelka
New exhibition complex Art-Strelka opened Sept. 18 at the Red October chocolate factory’s former garages. This gloomy brick-and-metal industrial zone across the Moscow River from Christ the Savior Cathedral is now inhabited by several contemporary art galleries and studios, including Viktor Freidenberg’s design studio and a Yohji Yamamoto fashion boutique.

Tennis Time
Tennis’ big guns are to gather in Moscow for the annual Kremlin Cup at Olimpiisky Stadium on Oct. 9-17. The tournament usually attracts a host of well-known spectators such as former President Boris Yeltsin, who was there to congratulate Russia’s Anastasia Myskina after she took the women’s tournament in 2003.

Shambala vs. Ministerstvo
It would seem reports of Ministerstvo’s death were exaggerated. Although it officially closed in June, the venue is planning to reopen at some point in late October, with Halloween night a possibility.

Meow Now
The Stage Holding company has announced that casting has begun for the Moscow version of “Cats.” The Andrew Lloyd Webber hit musical, which has been produced in 30 countries and in 12 languages, is to be performed in Russian but remain consistent with the original.

Olga Rozhdestvenskaya at first
On Sept. 20, First hosted the presentation of a music video by Felix Mikhailov for Olga Rozhdestvenskaya and Moscow Grooves Institute.

Shaken Or Stirred

Halloween
While giants of the promotion business Zeppelin and Organised Kaos were planning their pompous Halloween events last year by ordering movie-studio decorations and signing up big-name acts from major international booking agencies, modest Mio decided to simply serve up good music.

Good-Bye Leto, Hello Autumn
All summer on weekend nights, the city’s drivers were forced to look for bypasses around an important thoroughfare, Yauzskaya Ulitsa — thanks to a collection of ostentatiously expensive cars parked chaotically all over the place, blocking traffic from midnight to early morning.
