Spring Cruise
There’s a great way to see Moscow’s most beautiful sights without wearing down your heels — from the water. A popular boat route, running from Novospassky Bridge (next to Proletarskaya metro station) to Kievsky Station reopened in April.

Moscow in Bloom
Visit the Aptekarsky Botanical Gardens through June 15 to catch a glimpse and take a whiff of exotic flowers from all over the globe.

Pioneering Summer
Although the Young Pioneers Stadium in north Moscow offers a well-managed ice-skating rink during the winter, for the past few summers it has been largely desolate.

Hookah Champions
With water pipes now a mandatory fixture at numerous Moscow restaurants, it was only a matter of time before hookah-smoking achieved recognition as a competitive sport.

All That Jazz
From understated, low-key Forte to Le Club’s hazy Manhattan hipness, Moscow’s jazz clubs are all unique in their own way. They do have one thing in common, though — great music.

It’s A Gas
Nikita Khrushchev’s 1950s critique of jazz summed up the status of that so-called “bourgeois” music in the Soviet Union: He remarked that listening to it gave him gas.

Blue Bird's Jazzy Beat
The city’s oldest jazz club, Sinyaya Ptitsa, or Blue Bird, celebrates its 40th anniversary this September. The historic venue owes its origin to the political “thaw” of the 1960s, which saw the opening of a dozen or so cafes run by Komsomol members.

Who’s Who
Jazz may be an American invention, but plenty of Russian musicians can stand up even to the harshest critics. Here are some of the best local jazzmen, and where to see them play.

Cabaret
Cote D’Azur — a favorite vacation spot for the nouveau riche — is now a fitting inspiration for an exclusive Moscow nightspot.
